Janis Christie is a designer for the world. Her new line SKULLZ LONDON is a child of international inspiration. Whether Janis was clubbing in Ibiza,meditating in Lourdes, cruising down the Nile or wearing torn fishnets whilst donning a vivid blue mohawk hairdo for afternoon tea at London`s Harvey Nichols.Janis has always lived fashion forward.

Janis was born & raised in London. before "Punk" became a revolution, she was already wearing clothes from Vivienne Westwood`s shop SEX on London`s Kings Rd. She bought Zandra Rhodes pearl encrusted safety pins for jackets. She began layering clothes just as Adam Ant and the Pirate/New Romantics became influential.
Janis discarded the routine punk look of dull "tartan plaid" and bought men`s Tuxedo jackets from thrift stores, which she would stud & sew thick chains on.Janis bought black jeans from Fiorucci & wore them in the bath to "shrink fit" them to her body.
She`d rip holes in her now fitted jeans to show stripped tights underneath.
Janis destroyed Laura Ashley frilled collar shirts to layer over tight "Sex Pistols" tee shirts.

Layering choice pieces has always been the touchstone of Janis` vision.

London`s nightlife is the best in the world. Janis was a huge part of it. She breathed in the excitement of seeing & being seen. Partying the night away on Fridays until dawn when she would immediately go to London`s Portobello rd market to dig through vendor`s treasures. In the late 80`s, Janis had her own stall on Portobello Rd selling "gently used" high end labels like YSL, Chanel & Betty Jackson. Using her style expertise to put outfits together for the local drag queens.

In 1990, Janis opened her first clothing consignment store "Re-Releases" in London`s city financial district on Farringdon Rd. A month after opening, London`s "where to go/what to do" magazine Time Out wrote a fabulous piece on her store. The shop did so well, that a 2nd
"Re-Releases" was opened in 1992 in Ealing, West London.

Janis is passionate about dressing women & was thrilled to introduce women to items they had never seen before, nor thought of wearing.

That same passion has come to the United States with Janis` new Lagenlook line
SKULLZ LONDON.
Skullz is designed with all women in mind. especially the plus size (a description she particularly hates!) Rubenesque, beautiful, bountiful shape market.

Janis has spent her entire life hungry. She only has to look at a bar of chocolate & the weight creeps on. As well as designing Skullz she has a Parrot & Jack Russell rescue. Talk about busy! She realised starving herself was no longer a good idea. So she went shopping for some larger clothing.

Janis was beyond dismayed by the sad, sorry selection sold in the "Plus size" & "Women" departments in stores. She didn`t want to wear a linen camp shirt with garden pots along the hem with matching capri pants. Nor did she want to wear a tent Muu Muu in some deathly floral print.

Having always worn her version of the layered look, Janis imported the bountiful-sized clothing from Germany & Holland for herself, then decided to sell them on ebay so curvy women like herself had choices. Janis sold Euro Lagenlook labels on ebay that no one else had available. The look was a huge success. No one in the USA had heard of the word "Lagenlook" until Janis used it in her listings.

Inspired by the look, Janis began designing & manufacturing her own label SKULLZ LONDON. She launched the label on ebay in Nov 2007. It was an immediate sell out. Since then, the label has achieved a cult following on ebay. The designs are "avant garde" and not for the women who wish to blend quietly into the background. The fabrics used are made to allow easy movement & comfort. They enhance & flatter a woman`s curves.

Best of all, SKULLZ LONDON is only produced in the USA. Janis has combined her love of trend,world travels,retail experience & her vast imagination to SKULLZ LONDON. A fresh, fantastic look for women of all sizes, ages and cultures.
